The Castle has been a bastion of British cooking for over 50 years and has launched the careers of chefs such as Gary Rhodes and Phil Vickery. The equally talented Liam Finnegan, formerly of Gidleigh Park now heads up the kitchens at this spacious modern brasserie, making the most of the South West's incredible natural larder. So there's beer battered Brixham haddock, crushed peas and tartare sauce and Beech Hayes farm sausages with red onion gravy. A few international influences creep in- Dorset Prawn Cocktail comes with guacamole and Pitney Farm roast tomato, courgette and basil with tagliatelle and Parmesan. This is a brasserie in the true sense of the all-day-dining word, so if you don't want a full meal you can pop in for morning coffee, a lunchtime snack or a drink after work.
